FRCSEd(Urol) Examination Guide
The Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Urology) is the exit examination for urological trainees in the UK and Ireland.
Examination Structure
The exam consists of two parts:
- Section 1: Written examination (MCQs and EMQs)
- Section 2: Oral examination (Viva Voce)
Section 1: Written Paper
This section tests your theoretical knowledge across the entire curriculum. It typically consists of two papers:
- Paper 1: Single Best Answer (SBA) questions
- Paper 2: Extended Matching Questions (EMQ)
Section 2: Viva Voce
Candidates who pass Section 1 proceed to the oral examination. This involves a series of stations covering:
- Emergency Urology
- Oncology
- Paediatric Urology
- Stone Disease
- Neurourology & Reconstruction
Marking Scheme
Each station is marked by two examiners. You are assessed on:
